If you have ever been to the City and seen the lions at the public library, you need to read this book. It not only gives their history, but makes you feel as if you are part of the city by knowing so much about them. A truly enchanting little book that will give you insight that you didn't even know you needed.

This little picture book, filled with interesting facts and stories, is a delightful read and a wonderful "view" of these regal pillars of the NY Public Library.
Wonderfully informative little volume with comprehensive history of the NYC Lions, their controversial early days and total adoption into New Yorkers' hearts. Great photos and hilarious cartoons are included. When I leave it flat on a bookcase or table, it gets inevitable comments from guests who enjoy it as much as I do. Recommended for any cat love or bibliophile in general.
I was missing NYC and Patience and Fortitude, the lions in front of the New York Public Library. I ordered this book and have been charmed by the New Yorker covers and cartoons, the photos and the hats they wear throughout the years. It is and attractive book that sis face out on my bookshelves to remind me how much I love NYC, public art, New Yorkers, and whimsy. great gift. Why did I wait years to buy it?
this little book is so wonderful. i wasn't expecting the volumeof material, the wonderful facts and photograghs. seeing is believing...buy this book. it's worth the money and then some.
Book is beautifully conceived and designed, a rich treat for anyone who lives in New York or has ever lived there.
Heartwarming story about the history of the NY Public Library lions. Very well written and historically interesting. I think the book is out of print but I found a beautiful used edition. I will pass it on to my friends who, i’m sure, will love it as I do.
