I really liked the chapter about how frustrating it is to prep an unwilling bull
As a big fan of Maddox, we were happy to find another book. While not as good as his previous work, his snark is still appreciated.
Easy to read. Makes you Laugh. Makes you think.
I really love his website and the last 2 books. I used to preach the alphabet of manliness to friends in college. We'd go page by page with crappy childrens art at Christmas with family. This book is funny at first but becomes a bit whiny about half way through. Not his best work but a few hidden gems throughout to make it worthwhile.
Terrible read. The concept of F (insert animal or inanimate object here) because it isn't smart like humana is worthy of a chuckle for a chapter or 2, but not an entire book.It also is old content. If you listened to TBPITU then you have heard it before. Worst thing to come out since his Best Debate podcast which is unlistenable.I want my money back.
Oh man... Where to begin? I've been a fan of Maddox since I first discovered The Best Page in the Universe in 1998. Yes, that makes me slightly old, but with age comes wisdom. Speaking of wisdom, that's exactly what you'll find in this book of hilarious rants aimed at a variety of things you thought you loved. We've all had those moments where something we read in the news just triggers an epic rant in our brains and, within those rants there are always kernels of truth. Aside from laughing my guts out at some old-school Maddox, I found the subject matter quite thought provoking. I see this book as serious satire targeting the specious logic of contemporary political rhetoric, but you don't have to go that deep to enjoy it. At the end of the day, it's just side-splitting funny. If you don't get it, you're probably wearing the emperor's new clothes, and the joke's on you. Maddox is a true original, and he's a writer that has a great grasp on the zeitgeist. If you're new to his work, take it with a grain of salt. The last thing you're supposed to do after reading this book is go harpoon shopping and form a hunting party. Definitely worth the paltry $15 I paid for it.
It's a semi decent read, but if you've listened to Maddox's podcasts you've heard it all before. It's just rehashed content put into book form. I had expected better from the man who wrote The Alphabet of Manliness. I'd recommend just skipping the book and just listening to the podcasts, particularly the now-defunct "Biggest problem in the universe."
Terrible book. Not funny at all, completely different from his masterpiece The Art of Manliness. And why was there an entire chapter with no jokes about why I should let other well endowed men have sex with my wife?
